Purity of Odio (Pure Odio) is the final boss of the game fought in the Final Chapter scenario. It is the most powerful creature in the game boasting extremely high stats. The brow absorbed the darkness of the well, opening the mole showing it's true nature, a being of pure hatred.

Profile

Appearance

His design resembles a fallen angel albiet with dark red wings which symbolise falling via hatred. This fallen angel appearance represents the fact that Oersted was once a hero who fell into disgrace to then become the Lord of Dark. He is seen rising from a blooming flower, showing that this is him rising at his peak power and hatred and can symbolise rising from death to new life. The humanoid in the fetal position likely symbolises rebirth (Oersted rebirthed into Odio per say) or prebirth in full purity. The look of pure anger that his gaze posses might be a small reference to the painting ''Fallen Angel'' by Alexandre Cabanel.

Background

During the Final Chapter

After the defeat of its other parts (the eyes and the mouth), the brow moves towards the well of darkness to absorb its power, blooming and showing Oersted's hatred in its purest form. Resembling a fallen angel, he seems to have the power of a god willing to end existence, as he is sick of humanity. Conquering Oersted's pure godly hatred seems to calm (slightly) and weaken him after fighting in this form.

Stats

Strategy

Purity of Odio is the final boss of the game (in the original; in the remake, it's the second to final). Beware his Saint Alethea attack, as not only does it deal very high amounts of damage in an area, it can also inflict the Stone, Drunk, and Sleep status and can also lower the level of whoever is targeted. This attack can easily turn the fight against you if you do not have protection against those statuses. Having at least a piece of Ariel armor is recommended. He will mainly attack with Expunge whenever possible to deal high damage to your target and siphon the HP for himself. Shadow of Despair can disable your movement as it causes the Disabled Foot status. His Denial attack will cancel all abilities that require a charge time, so abilities that have none or have a short charge are very useful. One thing to note is that Pure Odio rarely moves, meaning that his attack range will be the same for most of the fight. Make good use of the space that you have and position yourself to avoid damage. Good luck, you will need it. Losing to him will result in him unleashing Armageddon, wiping out existence.

Eytmology

The word Odio comes from the Latin noun "odium", which means hatred.

The word Dio means god in italian, this also applies due to his Armageddon ability.
