Gori
Gori is a character and party member from the Prehistory chapter, The First. He is Pogo's ape companion and best friend.
Profile
Appearance
Gori is a stout, hulking ape covered with reddish-brown fur and a bushy three-pronged brow. He has large lips and big inferior fangs. He wears a thin blue loin cloth, leaving his rear end exposed.
Personality
Gori is slow-witted, goofy, and steadfastly loyal to Pogo, but sometimes likes to be mischievous. Half of the time, Gori screws around with Pogo, inadvertently or otherwise, which tends to result in Pogo beating him up. Despite this, Gori always remains right by Pogo's side. A lot of his attacks in battle have him throwing poop, passing gas, or beating his chest, indicating a lack of class.
History
Prehistory: The First
Gori first joins the party as Pogo wakes up to start the day. Gori follows Pogo throughout the remainder of the chapter, accompanying him as he learns how to hunt, joining him in his discovery of Beru, and participating in his first fight against Zaki, making mischief all the while. When Pogo is exiled from his tribe, Gori is thrown out with him, and continues to accompany Pogo when Beru is recaptured by the Kuu Tribe.
As Pogo and Gori stand before the Kuu Cave to rescue Beru, they spy some Kuu tribesmen escorting a group of five hostage Female Goris. Immediately smitten by the apes, Gori barges into the cave on his own and clears out the tribesmen, rescuing the Goris. Pogo soon finds him completely lovestruck, being showered with love and attention by the Goris, and has to knock the sense back into him.
At the end of the chapter, Gori joins Pogo, Beru, and Zaki in the battle with Odo. With peace brought to the lands, Gori is carried off by the Female Goris to a room in the Southern Tribe's cave to celebrate.
Final Chapter: The Dominion of Hate
Gori makes a brief reappearance in the final chapter, appearing in the preludes before the rematch of Pogo and Odo.
In the true ending, Gori appears once again to show Pogo and Beru his five new children.
Gameplay
Strategy
Gori plays significantly around his ability to lay a large poison field. Many of his attacks are mid ranged with an area of effect, as well; making him a valuable support character to compliment Pogo's close ranged specialty. However, due to his very limited equipment pool, he also doesn't have the best stats going through his chapter. This is further crippled by his complete inability to equip weapons of any sort. Though given that he is a gorilla, this makes some sense.
Gori's stat growths are fairly middling when compared to Pogo's. He has a chance to not gain any points in some stats on a level up, and his speed cannot increase naturally at all.
