Strategy

Due to the lack of traditional combat within The Mechanical Heart, Cube has no access to experience or equipment, and cannot increase their stats in any way. Despite this, they are still very capable in battle, and can quickly and easily dispatch OD-10 in their first battle with their particularly strong Spool Up and Maser Cannon techniques.

During the final chapter, Cube is able to take part in regular encounters. As an inorganic being, Cube cannot gain experience from fights, and thus is incapable of leveling up. Though their stats cannot increase naturally, Cube can also now be outfitted with found equipment, allowing them to still grow stronger.

Cube can automatically learn new abilities by equipping the Robot Weapons from the Near Future chapter, The Outsider, in their Accessory slots. These weapons may be found dropped from enemies, looted from treasure chests, or even brought over by Akira from his time period. Additionally, Cube can directly increase their HP, Agility, and Evasion by consuming Robotic Enhancements, also dropped from enemies.

Cube has significantly high defensive stats, and in the remake is naturally immune to numerous status ailments. This makes them seemingly the most resilient party member in terms of base statistics. While their attacks are powerful, their most powerful options, including their Robot Weapons, carry a large charge time. Cube's greatest potential in battle is as a healer; their Data Recovery heals all allies directly around them, and can also activate as a counter. Without Cube, the party will have to rely on items for large-scale healing.

Cube does have some notable drawbacks such as their low physical attack and the lowest speed in the game, something not particularly remediable, as well as said inability to level up. Despite this, their healing prowess makes Cube an invaluable party member for the final chapter.
